Respite Care Program
What is a respite ministry? A respite ministry allows caregivers of people with dementia a needed time off. They bring their loved ones to us in the morning and pick them up again in the afternoon. In the meantime they can run errands, attend their own appointments, visit friends, or simply rest.
Trinity's Respite Ministry for Caregivers is held on the second Tuesday of the month at Trinity, from 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM, and includes lunch. The program offers one-on-one help for participants and a variety of activities that encourage socializing in a safe environment.
Laurie Bauch coordinates the program. Laurie is a registered Occupational Therapist and is certified as a trainer by Positive Approach to Care. Volunteers for the program have received training from the Alzheimer's Association of WNY.
For more information or to sign up your loved one for this ministry, please call Trinity's church office at 434-3106.
Funding for the program comes from donations and from a generous grant from the Eastern District of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. We welcome new volunteers, who may apply by calling the church office.
